I have been to this small museum dedicated to Hendrik Christian Andersen. It was literally one block away from the Temple University Rome building. He was a wierd artist, gay, and his lover (a fellow artist) left him after many years over hating his work. Its wierd utopian sculpture for a culture that doesn’t exist. Its part kitsch, part fascist, part erotic, but all bizarre. I walked through this place at least twice a week.

Here is my new studio! The panorama makes it look small, but its about 50% bigger than my old studio last year. It has nice walls, lot’s of space, and an AMAZING Skylight that runs the length of the two studios (the space over to the left is another studio).
It’s more private, has more storage, and is essentially better in every respect. The painting in the back corner is over 6ft tall, to give you a sense of scale. Half of the carts will be gone next week, they are just holding my junk until I store it in the closet. I am excited to be in a new space.
Added 7 new paintings to my website (4 from 2010, and 3 from this year). Some I posted here on tumblr, some hardly anyone has seen. Go check them out if you are so inclined. http://brandon-dean.com/

(#TUGRAD11) Some take up long distance running for sport, while others run to fashion the perfect body. For Tim Rusterholtz, neither objective applies. In his life as an award-winning sculptor and runner, Rusterholtz seeks to challenge common interpretations of what it means to fashion the perfect human form.
While completing his MFA at Temple’s Tyler School of Art, Rusterholtz says he began to explore the connections between his lifelong love of running and his talent for sculpture.
“They have always been intertwined, but it wasn’t until recently that I started seeing them as one,” he explained. “Through my art and my experience as a runner I try to challenge and re-frame ideas of perfection.”

Dude’s awesome. Over the past year he has made some pretty insane stuff. I always secretly wanted to ride this giant rocking horse he made.
New painting is finished. The first one I have stretched in a while. I had been painting things unstreched for a while now so that I can paint bigger and faster without having to worry about building stretchers (and costs associated with it).
I title everything, but this one doesn’t have a title yet.
